About the author

Flora has worked for nearly 30 years in broadcast television, much of this time working with independent television companies on a broad spectrum of factual output. She was Director of the Edinburgh International Television Festival (1990 - 92), the first chair of the Production Managers’ Association (1991), Programming Manager of Discovery’s The Learning Channel (1992/3). Prior to joining AJE Flora worked as Producer and latterly Series Producer on Unreported World, Channel Four’s flagship foreign affairs series (2000-2005). She joined AL JAZEERA ENGLISH, the 24-hour English-language news and current affairs channel in 2005 to prepare for its launch in 2006. She is Editor of Witness, the documentary series which is currently transmitting twice a week in the form of a short (25 minute) and long (48 minute) slot. These slots are filled through acquisition, commission and co-production. Flora also is developing and looking after a number of other series across the channel. Al Jazeera English is a part of the Al Jazeera Network including Al Jazeera Arabic, Al Jazeera Documentary and a number of sports and other channels (Turkish, Balkan and Swahili). The Network is based in Qatar and transmits out of Doha.
